Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Granite City Fire Department has received a $310,500 Assistance to Firefighters grant through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The funds will be used for hiring. Costello cosponsored the legislation that created the Assistance to Firefighters program.
"This is a significant award and it will enhance fire protection services in the area," said Costello. "We must maintain our focus on public safety, and I will continue to work to ensure that our first responders have the resources they need."
