Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) has been awarded a $177,735 grant from the National Institute on Aging of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The funds will be used to study the effects of loss of sympathetic nerve activity on normal ocular aging.
"With people living longer, this type of research can help improve quality of life in our later years," said Costello. "SIUC is a major research institution and I will continue to work to make research a priority of the federal budget."
