Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL), Chairman of the House Aviation Subcommittee, today issued the following statement regarding whistleblower reports that air traffic controllers are engaging in unsafe practices at Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport:
“I have said often that safety must be our first priority. These are very disturbing reports, particularly because the alleged misconduct covers a long period of time and has been investigated previously. I am also concerned about alleged whistleblower retaliation. For these reasons, Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX) and I have asked FAA Administrator Blakey to work closely with the Office of Special Counsel as it investigates this matter so we know exactly what has transpired, and to keep us informed of its progress.”
