Looking for experience on Capitol Hill?
Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper, U.S. Representative for the 3rd district of Pennsylvania, is now accepting applications for internships in her Washington D.C office. Intern will work in a fast-paced Congressional Office gaining valuable experience and knowledge of the American political process from within the legislative branch. In addition to aquiring a working knowledge of day-to-day operations of the U.S. House of Representatives, interns will gain practical, professional skills while working closely with Congressional staff.
Intern responsibilities include conducting legislative research, assisting with constituent correspondence, greeting constituents and handling constituent phone calls, conducting tours of the Capitol, and assisting staff with a variety of administrative tasks.
Internships are open to all majors, but are designed for undergraduate students and recent graduates with a demonstrated interest in the political process. Applicants must commit to a minimum of six consecutive weeks in order to be considered. Candidates under consideration will be contacted directly to arrange a personal interview.
Qualifications: Strong academic background with a demonstrated interest in public service or government. Successful interns will be hardworking and self-motivated, have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and possess a strong attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Ties to Pennyslvania's 3rd District are an asset.
Majors/Career Fields: Students from all academic/career backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Compensation: Congressional Interns are unpaid.
