Reid Draws “Lucky 7” In Inauguration Ticket Lottery

January 9, 2009 - Nevada Senator Harry Reid today kicked off the lottery to select the Nevadans who will attend the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Barack Obama. Each request was assigned a number that was drawn out of a cowboy hat. Reid started the selection process by drawing the first “Lucky 7,” numbers out of the hat.

“I have received thousands of requests for Inauguration tickets and felt the best way to fairly choose which Nevadans receive them would be by lottery,” Reid said. “The Inauguration of Barack Obama as President of the United States is an historic event that the world will watch and participate in, and I’m glad to be able to help some of my fellow Nevadans be a part of it.”
