Wilmington, DE – Sens. Tom Carper and Ted Kaufman (both D-Del.) and Rep. Mike Castle (R-Del.) will join more than 100 employees of ILC Dover and their leadership team for an exciting announcement, including William J Wallach, President of ILC Dover.
 
Announcement: ILC Dover is joining the Oceaneering International Constellation Space Suit System (CSSS) Team.  Since the beginning of project Apollo, ILC Dover has designed and produced the space suit for NASA.  This new announcement and partnership allows ILC Dover to work with other companies to continue its legacy of protecting astronauts in space exploration.
 
The new CSSS Team lead by Oceaneering will provide NASA and the United States with extraordinary capabilities over the coming decade as they work with NASA to develop and produce the next generation space suit.
 
This Frederica-based company employees more than 400 people. This announcement will help preserve those jobs and open the possibility for new ones.
 
After the official announcement, many ILC products – including two space suits – will be on display for the media, staffed by ILC experts ready to answer questions about the products.
 
Sen. Carper, former Senator Joe Biden and Rep. Castle have long supported the efforts of ILC Dover and they are proud that a Delaware-based company that helped put a man on the moon will again make great strides for mankind.  In this difficult economic environment, the Delaware Delegation celebrates the continuation of a legacy and new partnerships. The delegation intervened to ensure that proper procedure was followed by NASA for awarding of the contract.
