An internship in the office of Senator Ted Kaufman is an excellent way to learn firsthand about the American system of government. Students will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience working in the United States Senate, assisting the Senator's professional staff with administrative, press, legislative and correspondence duties. Washington D.C.

Interns in the Washington, DC office will be able to observe firsthand the inter-workings and dynamics of the federal government. Working with the Washington staff gives students a chance to see how the Senate functions and how it interacts with the House of Representatives, the executive, and the judicial branches. Additionally, interns are encouraged to take advantage of everything Capitol Hill has to offer -- House and Senate debates, congressional hearings, seminars and speeches, research facilities and museums.

Wilmington

Internships in the Wilmington, Delaware office will allow students to learn how Senator Ted Kaufman helps Delawareans resolve federal issues at the local level. Students will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience assisting the Senator’s professional staff with press, legislative, constituent and correspondence duties. Interns in the Wilmington, Delaware office are given a great deal of responsibility. In addition to working in the office, there are many outside events and meetings throughout Delaware interns attend and participate in. Intern projects and assignments will vary day-to-day depending on the immediate demands on the staff resulting in excellent exposure to all areas of the office.

Requirements

Interns work on a voluntary basis and do not receive financial compensation for their work.
Interns must commit to work full time during the summer. Fall and Spring internships may be on a part time basis but students must commit at least 2 days a week.

Sessions

Internship sessions run three times a year; Fall, Spring, and Summer.
