Ehlers’ Statement on the Inauguration of President Barack Obama

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vernon J. Ehlers made the following statement today about the inauguration of President Barack Obama.

“I welcome President Barack Obama to the nation’s highest office, and I wish him well. I recognize the daunting challenges he faces as president, and I hope that all people, and the Lord, will help him meet those challenges. I pledge to work with President Obama, just as I do with all of my colleagues in Congress, and former presidents, as we work together to shape the future of our great nation.

“I watched the ceremony today with tears in my eyes, as I have during every inaugural ceremony. I am proud of our nation as it goes through this peaceful transition of power, and I am happy to be an American today.”
