Congresswoman Betty Sutton Announces Grant Awards for Barberton, Copley and Norton Fire Departments
WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congresswoman Betty Sutton (D-OH) announced that the Barberton Fire Department, the Copley Fire Department and the Norton Fire Division have all been awarded federal grants by The Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) Program. The Barberton Fire Department will receive $296,100, the Copley Fire Department will receive $66,500 and the Norton Fire Division will receive $7,587.
"I am very happy that the Barberton Fire Department, the Copley Fire Department and the Norton Fire Division will receive this critical support," said Congresswoman Sutton. "These grants will help our brave firefighters and first responders continue their vital work to keep our families and communities safe.I am committed to supporting all the firefighters and first responders in Ohio's 13th district and across our country. These brave men and women are true heroes."
The Copley and Norton grants were awarded under the Operations and Safety Program, which can
be used for training, equipment, personal protective equipment, wellness and
fitness, and health and safety modifications to stations and
facilities.
The Barberton grant was awarded under the Vehicle Acquisition Program, which can be used for pumpers, brush trucks, tankers/tenders, rescue vehicles, ambulances, quints, aerials, foam units, and fireboats.
