In preparation for the December 2008 opening of the Capitol Visitor Center (CVC), the Architect of the Capitol is moving some of the statues from the Capitol into the new space. With the approval of the Joint Committee on the Library, which has responsibility for the placement of works of art, twenty-four of the statues most recently donated to the National Statuary Hall collection will be displayed in the CVC's Emancipation Hall and other public areas. Also, a number of the statues remaining in the Capitol will be rearranged to improve their display and reduce crowding.

The locations of the statues will be updated on this Web site when the moves are completed.
