Senator Lugar Touts Energy Projects Across Indiana

Senator Lugar speaking at Purdue Calumet's Lugar Visclosky Energy Forum on October 8Continuing his focus on America’s energy security, Senator Lugar highlighted progressive energy projects across Indiana in October 2008. 

Senator Lugar joined Rep. Pete Visclosky at Purdue University Calumet for an energy forum and expo on October 7.  During the Forum, Senator Lugar said "energy security should be our foremost investment target" and challenged the next president to focus on America's energy security. During the expo, Senator Lugar visited with more than 30 vendors showcasing renewable and sustainable energy products from across Indiana and the nation.

Senator Lugar speaking at Notre DameOn October, 8, Senator Lugar visited the University of Notre Dame’s energy center and named GreeND a Lugar Energy Patriot. GreeND, founded by Lourdes Long and Colleen Kelly, is a student group focused on energy and environmental issues. Through the Energy Patriot, Senator Lugar profiles a student, professional, scholar, or member of the business community who has demonstrated leadership and initiative in taking concrete action to improve America's energy security.

On October 9, Senator Lugar visited wind farms in Benton County. At the Benton County Wind Farm, Senator Lugar saw Indiana's first operating wind farm. At the Fowler Ridge Wind Farm, Senator Lugar received a tour of the farm and saw a wind turbine under construction.

Following the wind farms in Benton County, Senator Lugar went to West Lafayette to see Purdue University's Discovery and Research Parks. Senator Lugar met with scientists and researchers working on renewable and sustainable energy projects.
