Senator Cardin and Prince George's Co. Executive Jack Johnson cut the ribbon for the County's Africa Trade Office. The Trade Office will help local businesses build ties and expand trade and investment opportunities between Prince George's Co. and Africa through outreach, training and education. Senator Cardin was instrumental in securing funds from the U.S. Small Business Administration for this important program.

Cardin, Mikulski, O'Malley Raise Awareness of Low-Income Heating Assistance Program
Senator Cardin joined Senator Mikulski and Governor O'Malley in encouraging low-income households to apply for energy assistance during the winter. Maryland received a significant boost in federal funding for the Maryland Energy Assistance Program and it is expected to help approximately 102,400 households across the state.

Cardin Congratulates MD Teacher of the Year
During his visit to Dr. Harry A. Wise, Jr. High School in Prince George's County, Senator Cardin congratulated 10th grade teacher William Thomas on being selected the 2009 Maryland Teacher of the Year. Senator Cardin also spoke with Mr. Thomas' class about the historic results of the 2008 election and the responsibilities of a United States Senator.
