WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., today released the following statement in remembrance of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

 

“Dr. King personified the very hope of America and exemplified a profound commitment to equality, justice, and opportunity.  Today our nation pauses to honor and reflect upon his legacy that inspired Americans to look for the best in each other and to live together in community, recognizing the God given talents and purpose of all people.

 

“There is no question that Dr. King played a powerful role in the shaping of our nation, and paved the way for Barack Obama to take the oath of office tomorrow.
