Hightech scene with Moran

Northern Virginia's economy is on the leading edge of the rapidly expanding information technology (IT) industry.  Recent studies indicate that technology accounted for one-fifth of all jobs in Northern Virginia and 32 percent of all wages.

Congressman Moran understands the vital role the IT sector plays for Northern Virginia's economy. As a Member of Congress, he has encouraged increased investment in educating and training a technologically-literate workforce.  He has consistently supported robust job training programs and funding for higher education programs that help workers enter and advance in the IT industry.

In past sessions, Congressman Moran has been a lead cosponsor of numerous technology measures involving Y2K litigation relief, H1B visas, employee stock option protections, and information security.  A leader on free and fair trade, Congressman Moran founded the New Democratic Coalition understanding that to maximize our IT potential; we could not afford to ignore 90 percent of the world's consumers.

Reacting to the Congressman's efforts, the Information Technology Industry Council named him their "High Tech Legislator of the Year."  He also received the distinction of being inducted into the American Electronics Association's Hall of Fame.

In the 110th Congress, Representative Moran will continue to support policies and take actions that foster IT growth, enabling the U.S. to continue being the world leader in innovative technology.
