$155,978 to Iowa for Land and Water Conservation

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the National Park Service has awarded three grants totaling $155,978 to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources through the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

“This money will help these Iowa communities protect, maintain and improve their recreational areas,” Grassley said.

The Land and Water Conservation Fund provides matching grants to help state and local governments purchase and develop public outdoor recreation areas and facilities. These investments intend to create and maintain a nationwide legacy of high quality recreation areas and facilities across the U.S. and to stimulate non-federal investments in the protection and maintenance of recreation resources.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will distribute the funds as shown below.

v  Dubuque will receive $19,000 to assist in building an addition to the EB Lyons Interpretive Center and expanding the parking facilities.

v  Linn County Conservation Board will receive $75,000 to assist in an addition of 22 full-service RV campsite pads and a restroom/shower facility at Squaw Creek Park.

v  Tipton will receive $61,978 to help renovate two existing tennis courts and replace two tennis courts with a skateboard court and a basketball court at City Park.
