Senator Grassley Comments on the Inauguration of President Barack Obama

Senator Grassley also took video from a hand-held camera of this historic inauguration from the U.S. Capitol.  The video of the ceremony, as well as pictures and video from the reception for Iowans following the swearing-in, is available on the video section of Grassley’s website.

“Today’s speech was really two parts equally divided between domestic and foreign policy.  I appreciate President Obama’s focus on responsibility and accountability.  In this time of great anxiety, it was an important message for all of America to hear.  It will take a commitment to these two ideals to turn the country around.  It also seemed to me that he indicated that he will finish what President Bush started in Iraq, which is promising for the fragile democracy for this country.  And, he assured the rest of the world that the United States stands ready to lead the world through these tough times.”
