More Than $5.8 Million to Iowa Community Colleges

  

WASHINGTON - Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Labor has awarded grants totaling $5,841,627 to three Iowa community colleges.

 

"These funds will help Iowa's workers gain the knowledge to perform at a high level in these growing industries," Grassley said. "Their knowledge will be a great benefit to Iowa in the future."

 

           According to the Department of Labor, the community colleges will use the funds to help build the capacity to train individuals for careers in high-growth or high-demand industries in the local and regional economy. The Department of Labor will distribute the funds as shown below.

 

  •  Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa will receive $2,179,082 for training in the health care industry.
  •  Southeastern Community College in West Burlington will receive $1,660,285 for training in the advanced manufacturing industry.
  •  Western Iowa Technical Community College in Sioux City will receive $2,002,260 for training in the homeland security industry.
