Grassley: West Point offers appointments to young Iowans

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that Benjamin Allen of Granville, Timothy Berry of Cedar Rapids (Washington High School), and Aaron Brockhus of Spencer have been offered appointments to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point.

"The U.S. military academies are an excellent opportunity for many young Iowans who are committed to pursuing a higher education and serving our nation," Grassley said. "West Point requires all applicants meet the highest standard. These young people have worked extremely hard and are committed to service.  I'm sure they will make Iowa proud."

In December, Grassley nominated several young Iowans to the academies as part of if his annual nomination process.  He expects more appointments to be offered in the upcoming months and will make announcements as they are offered.

Grassley accepts nominations for each of the U.S. service academies every fall. Young Iowans who are interested in applying for an appointment should contact Grassley's Cedar Rapids office.
