North Idaho College (NIC) Fast Facts
North Idaho College is a 45- acre campus that sits on the shore of Lake Coeur d’Alene. It was originally known as Coeur d’Alene Junior College from its conception in 1933. However, six years later, when the state legislature passed the Junior College Act in January 1939, it became known as North Idaho Junior College. The name was formally changed on July 31, 1971, to North Idaho College. The college gets its name from its location in the upper panhandle of Idaho, and now has an open door policy to reflect its role as a community college.
