Lewis-Clark State College (LCSC) Fast Facts

Located in Lewiston, right next door to Washington, this college which was founded in theory in 1893 strives to “connect people with learning and learning with their world”.  Starting its infancy on 10 acres of barren land, is where this school, known as Lewiston State Normal School began to grow.  The first class started school in 1896, the year the first building was finally completed.  The school was renamed in 1947 to the Northern Idaho College of Education (NICE) after it became a four year institution.  NICE closed its doors in 1951 due to concerns of financing and enrollments at the outbreak of the Korean War.  The Idaho State Legislature reopened the school in 1955 under the name Lewis and Clark Normal School. Later in 1971, the name was changed to Lewis-Clark State College.  LCSC has been ranked as one of the top schools in the West to obtain a bachelors degree.  Lewis-Clark State College is also the most affordable public college in Idaho.
