Rep. Pitts Opposes Flawed "Stimulus" Plan

Congressman Pitts released the following memo after voting against H.R. 1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.  His statement is below:
"I opposed this bill because it was a big government spending bill filled with special interest projects and its ability to stimulate the economy in a timely manner is highly questionable.  Most of the money won't even get into the economy in time to make a difference.  At a time of serious economic hardship, the American people deserve better.  They deserve a responsible economic recovery policy that is quick and targeted.  I don't believe the plan we voted on today was either."
