“In 2008, our economy lost 2.5 million jobs. Something needs to be done and done immediately,” Speier said in Washington before flying home to her Bay Area district after the vote. “This legislation will create or save more than 4 million jobs, many of them in education, infrastructure and much-needed green technologies such as clean water projects and upgrading our nation’s electrical grid.”
