WASHINGTON D.C, - U.S. Representative Candice Miller (MI-10) today, met with former Marysville High School athletic stand-out Ms. Kristi Miller to congratulate her on the NCAA Today’s Top VIII award.

This highly competitive award is presented to eight-student athletes regardless of sport or college division that are nominated by their respective educational institutions. Student-Athletes must meet NCAA qualifying standards, and Award selection criteria is based upon their athletic, academic, and leadership abilities.

"The fortitude and dedication which a collegiate athlete must demonstrate deserves recognition in and of itself. However, to maintain a 4.0 GPA while earning All-American athletic honors 6 times is an incredible feat. Kristi is a remarkable young woman who has accomplished a great deal on the tennis court and in the classroom. I often tell my colleagues who come from around our great nation what a beautiful part of the country I represent and the best part of it all is the people who live there."

Ms. Kristi Miller will be honored at the NCAA Honors and Delegates Celebration on January 15 at the 2009 NCAA Convention in Washington.
