Corporate Tax Rate Cuts Essential for a
Strong American Economy

Cantor Bill Will Cut Corporate Tax Rate From 35% to 25%

WASHINGTON, DC - Chief Deputy Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA), member of the House Committee on Ways and Means reiterated his calls to strengthen the American economy and create new jobs by cutting the corporate tax rate from 35% to 25%. The rate cut is the centerpiece of the “Grow American Investment Now Jobs Act,” (GAIN Jobs Act) introduced by Cantor in January 2008. Cantor’s GAIN Jobs Act encourages employers and entrepreneurs to invest more of their money in growth and job creation for middle class American families.

“ America needs to continue to maintain and create good middle class jobs. The GAIN Jobs Act will provide the tools and incentives necessary for a more certain economic future for millions of American families. By cutting the unnecessarily high corporate tax rate from 35% to 25% we can remain competitive globally, therefore, growing outfits here at home and creating jobs for more middle class families. With the skyrocketing cost of gas, the continued slump in the housing market, and the increase in the rate of unemployment, this bill will help to ensure the continued expansion of our economy and the creation of good jobs for the American people.

“Sen. John McCain’s plan to cut the corporate tax rate and taxes for hard-working families is a recipe for job growth and continued American competitiveness in the world.  His vision contrasts strongly with those of leading Democrats who would increase taxes on capital gains, small businesses and working families.

“The GAIN Jobs Act is about homeowners, it’s about people finding and keeping jobs and it’s about building small businesses to help strengthen our economy. We must foster an environment in Washington in which government works for the American people, not against them,” concluded Cantor
