Tuesday, January 06, 2009
Washington, DC - Congressman Sam Graves (R-MO) began his fifth U.S. House term Tuesday and officially assumed the role of Ranking Member for the House Small Business Committee, a position his colleagues named him to in December. “I am honored that my colleagues in the Republican Conference have entrusted me to serve as Ranking Member of the Small Business Committee. In these tough economic times, we must make sure the federal government is working with small businesses to help them succeed and create jobs here in America. As Ranking Member of the Small Business Committee, I will fight to reduce the burdens the federal government places on small businesses.” “Small businesses are facing many challenges in these tough economic times. However, it will be small businesses that will help lead our economic recovery. My job will be to make sure that they have the help they need to succeed. Whether it is reducing an ever-growing tax burden, giving small businesses the ability to purchase affordable healthcare, stopping frivolous lawsuits, or ensuring access to capital, I will work with the members of the Small Business Committee to ensure that all of America’s small businesses have the opportunity to prosper.”
