The Delta Regional Authority is involved in numerous efforts to improve the lives of the people it serves.
The authority has launched a major diabetes awareness and prevention program, serving people in all 252 counties and parishes of the region.
Information technology and transportation are other areas of emphasis as the authority works to improve the region's economy. From asphalt highways to the information superhighway, the DRA is working to come up with a comprehensive economic development plan for the region.
A regional Delta Leadership Institute is being conducted in coordination with the University of Alabama.
Meanwhile, the DRA's Delta Doctors program is bringing physicians to the area who otherwise would never practice in the Delta.
