Make plans now to attend the third annual Missouri Mine Safety and Health Conference January 15-16, 2009 at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, Missouri.

The conference is a joint effort of Missouri's mining industry including the Missouri Limestone Producer's Association, SEMMSA, the State of Missouri and MSHA. It will feature exciting and informative speakers discussing a variety of topics pertaining to the mining industry.

Additional information concerning this conference will be mailed out in the very near future, so mark your calendars and plan to attend.

Application Seminar

This tuition-free seminar is for mining company managers, blasting engineers, blasters, and others involved with the planning, design, and use of explosives in the mining industry. The most recent innovations in drilling and blasting design technology will be addressed, along with specific blasting applications, up-to-date blasting regulations, and blasting related information from recognized experts. Presenters are drawn from manufacturers of explosives and accessories, blasting consultants, design experts, and government agencies.

Examples of topics include:
  • Safety in storage, transportation, and use of explosives, and how to recognize and prevent mal functions.

Supervisors, mark your calendars now, and plan to attend the 13th Professional Development Mine Safety Seminar for Supervisors.

This affordable seminar and workshop will be held in Allentown, PA at the Holiday Inn Conference Center—Lehigh Valley. Organized by the Penn State Miner Training Program, MSHA, PA Mine Safety, and industry, the program is tailored for the safety and health professional development of supervisors who are interested in learning about practical approaches, tools, technology, and regulatory issues.

The proposed program covers a variety of topics, including, team work, disciplinary programs, successful industry safety programs, doing the right thing by safety, safety and profitability, dealing with drugs and alcohol, training skills, etc.
