Afterschool Care Snacks and Suppers

Organizations can provide nutritious CACFP snacks to children and teens in afterschool care programs. There's also a new supper initiative underway!

Facts about CACFP and Afterschool Care Suppers
Proposed Rule - CACFP: At-Risk Afterschool Meals in Eligible States.  This rule proposed to provide an additional meal for at-risk children through age 18 who are participating in afterschool programs in the 8 eligible States (DE, IL, MI, MO, NY, OR, PA, WV)
Afterschool Snacks in the CACFP  
This final rule authorizes afterschool care centers that meet certain criteria to be reimbursed for snacks served to at-risk children 18 years of age and younger.  This rule also establishes the eligibility of at-risk afterschool care centers to serve free snacks to children who participate in afterschool programs.  The intended effect of this rule is to support afterschool care programs through the provision of snacks that meet CACFP meal pattern requirements.
