FY-2008 Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program

Allocations, Obligations and Unfunded Applications

Updated 12/04/2008

The maps and PDF tables below present fiscal year 2008 allocation, obligation and unfunded application information for the Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP).

The program encourages creation of high quality wildlife habitats that support wildlife populations of National, State, Tribal, and local significance. The funding provides technical and financial assistance to landowners and others to develop upland, wetland, riparian, and aquatic habitat areas on their property.

In FY-2008, NRCS obligated $57.8 million and enrolled more than 3,000 contracts covering more than 646,000 acres into WHIP.  Just over 1,600 applications were not funded in FY-2008, totaling more than $44.5 million.
