Northeastern Gulf of Mexico Coastal Characterization and Data Information Management System (MMS 99-0050)

Nesite1.gif (5685 bytes)

This Northeastern Gulf of Mexico Coastal Characterization update, which includes the coastal areas of southeast Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle, focuses on updating the information related to the previous characterizations of the area.

More specifically, the study area includes all coastal counties and parishes extending offshore to the Federal leasing boundary, and extend east to west from Apalachicola Bay, Florida, to the Chandeleur Islands, Louisiana. The study is designed to further our understanding of the coastal environment, how coastal and marine habitats are impacted by offshore processes, and the interrelationship of environmental and selected socioeconomic factors. The overall study purpose is to collect, organize, and analyze available information from various disciplines that will describe each part of the system in terms of its relation to other parts and to the region as a whole.
