Rating

What This Rating Means

PERFORMING
Moderately Effective

In general, a program rated Moderately Effective has set ambitious goals and is well-managed. Moderately Effective programs likely need to improve their efficiency or address other problems in the programs' design or management in order to achieve better results.
  • EPA's effectiveness is closely related to other Federal agencies priorities related to cleanup, and those agencies interactions with the States.
  • EPA has worked well with the Department of Defense to assist them in their Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) program, which DOD has supplemented with funds.

Improvement Plan

About Improvement Plans

We are taking the following actions to improve the performance of the program:

  • Working with other Federal agencies to support attainment of long-term environmental and human health goals by reviewing and recommending remedies for cleanup.
  • Conducting a program evaluation to be completed by September 2006, that will focus on recommending program improvements.
