Rating

What This Rating Means

PERFORMING
Effective

This is the highest rating a program can achieve. Programs rated Effective set ambitious goals, achieve results, are well-managed and improve efficiency.
  • The program has a clear and necessary purpose, and there is not any other viable alternative in terms of another government or private entity offering a comparable service.
  • progress via scheduled annual performance measures. Based on prior success, the program has established new goals and measures consistent with its reengineering.
  • The program's activities could support non-weapons-related work, but the focus of the program should be on the critical weapons-related work.

Improvement Plan

About Improvement Plans

We are taking the following actions to improve the performance of the program:

  • Maximizing the use of resources while avoiding redundancy at the three national nuclear weapons laboratories.
  • Improving the responsiveness of the Nuclear Weapons Complex Infrastructure by coordinating planned program activity with the Complex Transformation Strategy Record of Decision.
  • Improving the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the Nuclear Weapons Complex by integrating the program into the new Defense Programs National Level Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) plan.
