  • Aviation Safety program lacks efficiency measures and targets.
  • Appropriate financial and management oversight of the program is maintained. Program utilizes a systems approach to safety by using risk management to focus resources efficiently.

Improvement Plan

About Improvement Plans

We are taking the following actions to improve the performance of the program:

  • A metric has been developed to provide a cost per rule. A broader scope measure would be more representative of the organization's efforts and the search for such a measure is underway.
  • Continuing to monitor performance measures which include reductions in the number of fatal air carrier accidents, general aviation and part 135 accidents and reduction of accidents in Alaska.
  • Program has conducted one study and is examining how to make this process a standard management practice.
