Activities and Programs

In an age that is ever more demanding of measurement, both decision-makers and the public look to CDC for specific, credible, detailed health statistics on which to base policy decisions that will determine the way in which Americans address health and safety issues in the twenty-first century. CDC’s ability to provide meaningful, trustworthy information and to do so instantly and in an ongoing way, "24-7-365", may be the determining factor in saving one or many lives, and the expenditure of millions, if not billions, of dollars. CCHIS advances CDC’s leadership in informatics, statistical, and communication sciences and services within the public health system.

CCHIS activities and programs span three national centers and fall into the strategic priority areas of partnerships, eCDC, and integrated data and information. This list highlights a number of programs and activities, but does not represent all of the projects within CCHIS. For additional information, please visit our center websites.

For public health inquiries and questions, you can call 800-CDC-INFO. The CDC-INFO Contact Center is CDC's new consolidated call and email center answering inquiries from the public, providers, and professionals on behalf of the agency's topics. These include, but are not limited to, HIV, STD, immunization, TB, hepatitis, cancer, injury, diabetes, obesity, tobacco use, birth defects, health statistics, environmental health, chemicals, and outbreaks and emergency response.

CDC-INFO answers inquiries in English and Spanish and telecommunications for the hearing-impaired (TTY). The service provides consumers with a 'one-stop-shop' through 1-800-CDC-INFO (800-232-4636) and cdcinfo@cdc.gov 24 hours a day.
