This Occupational
Energy Research Program book presents an overview of the occupational
health research program conducted under the 2000 Memorandum of Understanding
between the Department of Energy (DOE)
and the Department of Health and Human
Services (DHHS). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/National
Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Health-Related Energy
Research Branch (HERB) within DHHS conducts a program of independent
occupational research with funding from DOE. The reader will find information
addressing studies conducted internally by NIOSH staff; studies conducted
externally through NIOSH-supported contracts, grants, and cooperative
agreements; DOE worker surveillance projects with NIOSH involvement;
and administrative and programmatic details. The time frame presented
includes current and proposed occupational research activities through
Fiscal Year (FY) 2000. The information in this document is current as
of December 1, 2000, and replaces the previous Occupational Energy Research
Program book dated October 1998.
