Surveillance of VPD Broadcast: Updates & Clarifications
Updates and Clarifications for the Surveillance of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases broadcast of December 8, 2005

  1. Rotavirus investigation. During the presentation about the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) Dr. Moran stated that the rotavirus vaccine intussusception investigation occurred in 1989. This is incorrect. The investigation took place in 1999. (12/9/05)

  2. Rubella vaccine. During the question and answer segment of the broadcast Dr. Seward stated that the Dominican Republic was the only country in Latin America that does not routinely use rubella vaccine in their routine childhood immunization schedule. We subsequently learned from the Pan American Health Organization that only Haiti does not currently use rubella vaccine. (12/9/95)
