NCITE's purpose is to advance the quality and effectiveness of technology, media,
and materials for individuals with disabilities. NCITE creates a marketplace
demand for the selection and appropriate use of research-based technology, media,
and materials (TMM).
NCITE is affiliated with the College of Education
at the University of Oregon.

Recent Accomplishments
- Developed the draft of the Reading and Language
Arts Framework, K-12 for the State of California.
- Developed the Review of High Quality Mathematics
Research for the State of California.
- Developed the Evaluation of Research on Educational Approaches which the
AFT, NEA, AASA, NAESP, and NASSP used to evaluate schoolwide programs in their report,
An Educator's Guide to Schoolwide Reform.
- Developed the Standards and Objectives for Compact for Literacy (U.S.
Department of Education, Office of Planning and Evaluation Services).
- Published three books:
- Effective Teaching Strategies That Accommodate Diverse Learners (1998)
- What Reading Research Tells Us About Children with Diverse Learning
Needs (1998)
- The Architecture of Instruction: Towards Successful Inclusion of Students
with Disabilities (in press)
- Continued work with major publishers and developers of TMM (e.g., McGraw-Hill,
Houghton Mifflin, Association of American Publishers).
- Continued work with key states - Texas, California, Florida, New York, Illinois,
Virginia, and Hawaii.
- Advised Hegler and Ball Foundations on how to improve the quality and quantity
of research in education.
