A method for optimizing the performance of an overall manufacturing system through analysis of variation within each subsystem.

Advantages
The algorithm developed the following advantages over other approaches to reducing noise in manufacturing systems:

  • Works well in mathematically non-linear systems
  • Handles multiple response variables
  • No restrictions on relationships among sub-processes
