Volatile Chemical Reagent Detector

Abstract
A polymer and fluorescence-based chemical sensor.

Application(s)

  • explosive sensors for safety/security
  • chemical warfare detector
  • water/air quality
  • quality control in gas/liquid manufacturing

Advantages

  • detects both neutral (such as explosives) and ionic molecules
  • is nearly fully reversible and therefore highly reuseable
  • very high fluorescence leading to high sensitivity
  • can be used as a thin film coating
  • applicable to both liquids and gases
  • can be used with a variety of light sources
