Updated January 5, 2009- "Attachment D" & Medicare Learning Network Publication "Attachment D" to Chapter 8 of the "OASIS Implementation Manual" has been reissued to promote accurate selection and assignment of the patient's diagnosis on the current OASIS (OASIS B1 (1/2008). This document clarifies CMS expectations specific to the assignment of diagnosis codes to the OASIS as dictated by the revised ICD-9-CM coding guidelines effective Oct. 2008 and the HH PPS refinements effective January, 2008. Attachment D addresses the diagnoses items that pertain to the home health episode (i.e., M0230, M0240 and M0246) and is currently posted in the "Downloads" section of the "OASIS B1 User Manual website. You may also see the "Downloads" section below for the direct link. Updated December 31, 2008- January 8, 2009- Special Open Door Forum: DMEPOS Accreditation. Please see the Special Open Door Forum page under the Downloads section for participation information. The next Home Health, Hospice, and DME Open Door Forum is scheduled for Thursday, January 22, 2009. Please see the Downloads section below for participation information. The Home Health, Hospice, and Durable Medical Equipment Open Door Forum (ODF) addresses the concerns of three unique health care areas within the Medicare & Medicaid programs. Issues related to Home Health PPS, the newly proposed competitive bidding for DME, and the Medicare Hospice benefit are all topics the forum has covered. Many of the issues covered bridge concerns within all three settings, and the combination of the topics under one forum has been useful to many participants. We continue to hold Special ODFs when individual policy issues require special attention. Timely announcements and clarifications regarding important rulemaking, agency program initiatives, and other related areas are also included in the forums.
