The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Office of Legislation (OL) writes legislative summaries for all major legislation passed by the Congress that is relevant to CMS. Click on the "Relevant Laws" link on the left side of the page to review CMS’ legislative summaries.

The legislative summaries are general and they are not legal documents. They are not intended to grant rights, impose obligations, create interpretive rules, or establish general statements of policy.  There may be nuances and exceptions contained in the statutes that are not discussed in this summary.  While we have made significant efforts to verify the accuracy of these publications, we refer readers to the United States Public Law for a full and accurate statement of their contents, which you can access using the link labeled "Thomas" below.
