Arthritis Benefits
of A Physical
Activity Program In West Virginia
Funding Number
MM0944
Project Description
There is a paucity of
literature on the effectiveness of physical activity and exercise
interventions for people with arthritis when delivered in the community
setting. Thus, the purpose of this project is to determine if an
evidence-based, community-delivered, physical activity program, the
EnhanceFitness program (formerly the Lifetime Fitness Program), yields
benefits for participants with arthritis.
Project Objectives
- Conduct a comprehensive, quantitative systematic review of
the literature on evidence-based, community-delivered physical activity
and exercise intervention programs
- Implement the EnhanceFitness Program among people with
arthritis in West Virginia
- Evaluate the EnhanceFitness Program including outcomes
such as physical activity level, pain and functional status
