SUPREME COURT DECISION AFFIRMS SCIENTIFIC METHOD TO ACHIEVE MORE COMPLETE CENSUS COUNT |
WASHINGTON: In response to today's Supreme Court decision on the U.S. Census, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (NY), former ranking member of the House Census subcommittee released the following statement:
"This decision is a victory for those fighting to achieve a more accurate census. The court again affirmed that the Constitution does not preclude the use of scientific methods to get a more accurate census count.
"If the Supreme Court can support the use of scientific methods, scientific methods that, in fact, the Bush administration also supported, the next question is why won't the administration release all the data derived from scientific methods from the 2000 Census, as several federal courts have ordered the administration to do and make the data public?" ### |
