EU-US CIA: A Swiss human-rights investigator says 14 European countries knew of or cooperated with the CIA on secret transfers and imprisonment of terrorist suspects for the past five years. A lengthy report published today (Wednesday) by the Council of Europe charges that Poland and Romania may have allowed the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency to operate secret prisons on their territory. Both countries denied the accusation, which has been published in the past.

prisoners from the country's jails -- hours after Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki promised freedom for 25-hundred detainees in a bid to foster "reconciliation and national dialogue." Buses filled with prisoners began arriving at Baghdad's central (bus) station early this (Wednesday) morning.

Iran Nuclear: President Bush says Iran's response appears to be positive to international proposals including incentives for Tehran to suspend its uranium-enrichment work. However, the president adds that only time will tell whether Iranian leaders are taking the offer seriously.

Indonesia Quake: Health authorities in central Indonesia have launched a massive campaign to immunize more than one-point-three million earthquake survivors at risk for diseases. Officials say they plan to immunize more than 130-thousand children against measles, and give tetanus shots to women and men over the next several days. So far, here have been no serious outbreaks of disease in hard-hit earthquake areas, but World Health Organization officials are concerned that poor sanitation will increase the threat of disease.
