ACCOMPLISHMENTS
  • Developed MPEG-1 Encoder and MPEG-1 Decoder under SBIR funding
  • Typical encoding done at 1.5 Mbps (6.10Mpbs) to achieve VHA (broadcast) quality video and CD quality stereo audio with MPEG-1 (MPEG-2) encoder
  • Decoder decompresses Motion Picture Expert Group (MPEG) bitstreams for fully synchronized stereo audio and NTSC and PAL video playback
  • Real-time preview of encoding quality provided by using MPEG decoder in conjunction with MPEG encoder
COMMERCIALIZATION
  • The product family includes an MPEG-1 VGA decoder, and MPEG-2 VGA decoder, an MPEG-1 encoder, and MPEG input processor, MPEG workstations, and MPEG transmission systems
  • Commercial applications include TV ad insertion, video CD authority, video-on demand, interactive video databases, vdeo transmission over networks, and remote learning
  • FY96 anticipated revenues of $8-9 million

  • ADC Telecommunications invested in Optivision as a result of this technology
