The Martian surface is littered with rocks, some as large as
houses. Scientists are particularly interested in finding certain types
of rocks that were formed in the presence of water. Where there
was water, life might have developed, so these areas of the planet
would be particularly good places to understand the possibilities for
past surface life on the planet.
