Gentlemen; Regarding the proposal to allow pre-recorded calls, I must register my protest. The National Do-Not-Call registry has truly been a success as measured by the reduction in the number of telemarketing calls we have received. I note that we still receive many calls in the course of a week, some within the guidelines of the Do Not Call registry, but many that still clearly do not follow these guidelines. I note that the clear majority of calls that we have, and occasionally still do receive, have been pre-recorded. One of the biggest problems with this class of calls is that it is almost always impossible to hang up. Indeed, I have returned to the phone some minutes later and found the recorded message still playing! I must urge you to not give into the requests of a very small number of corporations and follow what I believe to be the will of the majority of United States citizens. Please do not pass these amendments. Please do not weaken the Do-Not-Call registry. Thank you for your consideration.
