Please do not amend the law to permit prerecorded calls to persons on the Do Not Call list. It has been a pleasure this year to be able to have dinner without being interrupted by telesolicitors. I am still getting calls from charities and other organizations with which I do business, and that is still a substantial number. To permit prerecorded calls will invalidate the Do Not Call list, as many of the calls I received in the past were prerecorded. In addition to being an annoyance, they tie up the phone line, even if one hangs up before the message is completed. It is also annoying to answer the phone and listen to......nothing on the line, when another line was picked up first. In summary - do not mess with a good thing - right now, only the telemarketers are inconvenienced. If the law is changed, we all will be inconvenienced.
