The Direct Marketing Association's proposed ammendment appears to assume that consumers will generally wish to receive telephone solicitations from all vendors they may have previously done business with. I am opposed to any such ammendment, as I almost never wish to receive unsolicted, automated calls from vendors. I certainly would not want to be required to specifically opt-out on a company by company basis. A better solution for the consumer would be for him to opt-in for messages from specific vendors.
