This is to express my strong disapproval of the proposal to allow pre-recorded telemarketing. There is already too much unpunished cheating against the current regulations, (especially businesses fronted by self-proclaimed not-for-profit corporations masquerading as charities). Crack the door for these weasels and you'll find a burst dam in no time. Such telemarketing, as well as spam and highway billboards, simply export the cost of marketing to the general public. We pay for the marketers' costs either in the form of time stolen from us to react to and dispose of the unwanted messages and/or in the decrease in the quality of our lives. There are only costs. And the sleazes of the world want you to enable their transferance of cost to us. Do not abet their theft.
